In the Fall of 2005, Vancouver singer and flute player Norah Rendell and Twin Cities guitarist Brian Miller had both set up shop in Ireland in search of a deeper understanding of the traditional Irish music they had fallen in love with back home. Both Miller and Rendell already had extensive musical experience; Miller as part of numerous successful Irish music groups in Minnesota such as The Doon Ceili Band, 5 Mile Chase, Laura and the Lads and the Gaels and Rendell as both a professional classical recorder player and a member of touring world music and folk groups in Vancouver. They teamed up and played their first concerts as a duo for discerning crowds in Limerick and Cork. Rendell and Miller’s combined experience helped them quickly develop their own duo approach to the traditional Irish and contemporary folk music they love and after some more successful shows in Ireland, Vancouver and Minnesota they embarked on their first CD in the Spring of 2007. “Wait There Pretty One” showcases Rendell’s rich and soulful singing and strong, rhythmic flute playing supported by Miller’s insightful guitar backing.
